Working With Us
Your Guide to Our 3D Rendering Process
Trusted by builders, developers and designers across Canada for over 15 years.

Our Process

At Shapeshifter, we make high-quality 3D rendering as simple and stress-free as possible. Whether you're an architect, builder, or real estate professional, our process is designed to be smooth, transparent, and tailored to your needs. This guide walks you through how we work, what to expect, and what we need to get started. If you’ve never worked with a rendering company before—or even if you have—this page is here to answer your questions and help you feel confident moving forward.
STEP 1Initial Consultation
We begin by learning about your project—its scope, goals, and visual requirements. You can email us or book a quick call to talk about timelines, deliverables, and any special details we should know upfront.STEP 2Gathering Resources
You'll provide the files and design references we need: typically CAD drawings, floor plans, elevations, site plans, material specs, and mood boards. If you have a rough sketch or reference image, that helps too.STEP 3Modeling & Draft Rendering
We build the 3D model and produce a first-round rendering (or clay draft) for your review. This gives you a clear preview of composition, camera angle, lighting, and spatial layout.STEP 4Feedback & Revisions
We incorporate your feedback—adjusting materials, lighting, or any requested changes. Our goal is to fine-tune everything so your rendering reflects your intent perfectly. At this stage we provide a colour draft and offer another opportunity for revision and refinement.STEP 5Final Rendering Delivery
Once you're happy with the draft, we produce the final high-resolution rendering, optimized for print, web, or presentation use.
What We Need to Get Started
1
CAD Files or Architectural Drawings
We prefer DWG, DXF, or Revit files, but we can also work from PDFs. These give us accurate dimensions and layouts to build the 3D model.
2
Floor Plans, Site Plans, and Elevations
These help us understand the spatial layout, building placement, and exterior form. The more complete your drawings, the smoother the process.
3
Material Specifications or References
If you have a material schedule, product links, or even just photos, we’ll use them to accurately represent finishes like brick, wood, metal, glass, and paint.
4
Mood Boards or Style Guides (Optional)
Any visual inspiration—Pinterest boards, interior palettes, or branding guidelines—helps us match your design intent and tone.
5
Camera Angle Preferences or Examples
If you already know how you'd like your rendering composed, send us sketches, markups, or reference images. Otherwise, we're happy to suggest the best view.
Not sure what to send? Just reach out—we’ll walk you through it.
When to Use Our Rendering Services
Real Estate Pre-Sales and Marketing
When you're selling homes or units before they're built, photorealistic renderings make the invisible visible. They help buyers picture themselves in the space and dramatically increase interest and engagement online and in sales centres.
Planning and Municipal Submissions
Renderings help communicate scale, massing, and design intent to city planners and review boards. A clear image can reduce back-and-forth and support faster approvals—especially when paired with accurate elevations and site plans.
Investor and Stakeholder Presentations
If you’re pitching a project to potential investors, banks, or partners, a compelling rendering helps sell the vision and establish credibility. It shows that you’re serious, prepared, and ready to move.
Interior Design Concept Visualization
Renderings allow designers to present layouts, finishes, and mood concepts in context. Whether it's a home, lobby, or commercial space, it’s easier for clients to say yes when they can see the full picture in advance.
Website, Advertising, and Social Media
Marketing a development online? High-quality visuals are essential. From hero shots on your website to image carousels on social platforms, 3D renderings instantly elevate your brand and drive engagement.
Construction Planning and Communication
Even during early construction phases, renderings help align teams and clarify the design intent. They’re especially helpful when communicating with trades, consultants, and project managers who need to visualize key elements.
